About:

Shreekkanth (“Shree”) Viswanathan is the founder and sole employee of SVN Capital. After growing up in Chennai (then called Madras), in South India, he came to the US to pursue graduate studies in 1989.

After graduating from The University of Chicago with an MBA, he was an investment banker at Alex. Brown (which was acquired by Bankers Trust, which in turn was acquired by Deutsche Bank) in Baltimore, MD. As a result of these acquisitions, Shree then made a cross-continent move to San Francisco, CA, to join the Mergers & Acquisitions team at Thomas Weisel Partner. Later, he was a Corporate Development Executive at Union Bank of California in San Francisco.

From 2005 to 2018, Shree was a Portfolio Manager/Analyst at Discovery Financial Partners, Advisory Research, Inc. and Keeley Asset Management in Chicago, IL. He has had the privilege of being a sector specialist (Financial Services at Union Bank of California and Discovery Financial Partners), and then a generalist (Advisory Research, Inc. and Keeley Asset Management). This experience has helped him understand and appreciate the salient features of different industries. As such, Shree is a generalist.

Shree founded SVN Capital in 2018 to follow his own brand of investing. In particular, he wanted to put into practice some of the key insights gleaned in the previous fifteen years – essential ingredients for creating wealth are concentrated, long-term, global investing.
