Chris serves as portfolio manager and co-founder of Woodlock House Family Capital. He is an author, former banker, and investor. Chris is a veteran of the banking industry, specifically in the area of corporate lending. A financial writer since 1998, Chris’s essays have appeared in a wide variety of publications, from the Mises.org Daily Article series to The Daily Reckoning. He was the editor of Mayer’s Special Situations and Capital and Crisis from 2004 to January 2016. In 2016, he joined Bonner & Partners to launch the Bonner Private Portfolio. Chris has published several notable books including The World Right Side Up, Invest Like a Dealmaker, and 100 Baggers.

Anuj is a private investor and entrepreneur based in India. Previously, he was the fund manager of Redart Capital, a fundamental value oriented investment management firm based in India. From 2004 to 2005, Anuj was a Vice President solely responsible for the India proprietary trading desk at Merrill Lynch in Hong Kong and also assisted with managing Merrill Lynch’s $2 billion P-note product. From 2000 to 2004 Anuj was a proprietary trader for HSBC in Mumbai and was also responsible for setting up the equity derivatives desk for the company in India. From 2005 to 2009 Anuj has been working in the capacity of an executive director in his family business that is focused on logistics. He introduced processes and systems which helped increase margins and deliver consistency whereby the profits of the company have increased 800% since his joining. Since 2009 Anuj has been focused on investing proprietary capital of his family and developing his investment and risk management processes. Anuj received his post graduate degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Manchester Business School (UK) in 2000 and received his undergraduate degree in Commerce (B. Com) from Sydenham college in Mumbai.

Mark Hammonds on Stoicism and Value Investing

Before Jefferies, Edwin was the head of Morgan Stanley’s wealth management activities for the Benelux region, serving family offices, foundations and high net worth individuals. He also led the Investment Committee for the Swiss Bank’s pension fund and served as a board member of the pension fund from 2005 till 2011. Edwin holds an MBA from IESE Business School and has an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from the Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands.

El fallo de previsiones nos hará reaccionar con temor y aumentará nuestra aversión al riesgo. Sin embargo, en la economía actual el principal peligro no son los depredadores (al menos no en el sentido clásico del término) sino el pánico de los mercados. Cuando los inversores fallan una predicción, la activación de la ínsula les llevará a una respuesta brusca del sistema de aversión a la pérdida, que les hará vender sus acciones y salirse del mercado para evitar asumir más riesgos. Durante los últimos meses, hemos asistido a un aumento del ruido de mercado en torno al sector automovilístico, que ha provocado caídas significativas en la cotización de un gran número de compañías. Los rumores sobre nuevas tarifas de Estados Unidos a la importación de coches europeos, la incertidumbre sobre el impacto de la nueva regulación sobre emisiones (WLTP) y la potencial ralentización de la economía china han pesado sobre las acciones tanto de los fabricantes de automóviles, como de sus proveedores.

Para nuestros fondos, hemos encontrado más oportunidades de inversión en ese segundo grupo (los proveedores), aprovechando las caídas para tomar posiciones en CIE Automotive [BME: CIE] (compañía española de muy alta calidad, en nuestra opinión, que el mercado nos ha ofrecido a precios muy interesante y que probablemente mantengamos en cartera durante mucho tiempo), como en Continental AG [CON:GR].
